ArchivalResource

William B. Fagg archive, 1949-1959.

The archive includes nearly 2800 black and white photographs and a verbatim transcription of Fagg's field notes from his trips to Africa between 1949 and 1959. The archive documents the work of artists, ceremonies, and daily life in Benin, the Congo, and Nigeria, and the resulting images are an especially valuable record of the royal art of Benin, Owo, and Ife. In addition, there are two personal photographs of Fagg.
